Equipment Maintenance Technician

  • General Description
    • IMT is Seeking talented technician to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wafer fab manufacturing equipment in a class 100 semiconductor production cleanroom in Santa Barbara CA
  • Detailed Job Duties
    • Work with Equipment Engineers to improve an increase equipment uptime
    • Work with vendors, field service and technical representatives
    • Order parts, attend shift passdown meetings, and communicate daily activities
    • Make database entries to document all work performed on equipment
    • This is a Non-exempt position working on a compressed work week shift. Ultimate work hours, after reaching a certain experience, are 4 pm to 3:30 am Monday thru Thursday. Regular overtime may be required
    • This is an in fab position and requires wearing cleanroom attire and working in a cleanroom environment
    • Standing for long periods and lifting 60+lbs is required
    • You may be required to wear PPE and be exposed to chemicals
    • Experience with advanced semiconductor equipment such as wafer Nikon stepper, Veeco PVD and STS PECVD, Tystar LPCVD, ICP etchers, SVG/TEL coater tracks, Suss wafer bonders, Plasmatherm RIE, and robotic wet benches is preferred
  • Work Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements
    • Minimum of H.S. diploma with 15 years experience OR A.A. degree in electronics or manufacturing technology or equivalent with 10 years experience
    • Minimum of 3 years experience in production semiconductor process equipment maintenance

Vacuum Process Engineer

  • General Description
    • IMT is looking for a talented vacuum process engineer to sustain current production and lead the development of new processes. This includes ownership of DC/RF PVD, PECVD, LPCVD, and ICP dry etch equipment, control of the processes, running qualification wafers, monitoring equipment performance, and establishing reaction plans. Work will take place in IMT’s 150 mm class 100 production and development clean room in Santa Barbara, CA. No travel required
  • Detailed Job Duties
    • Primary Responsibility
      • Provide process engineering support for vacuum processes and manufacturing in a 150 mm semiconductor production facility
      • Work with process development engineers and technicians to resolve process and equipment problems, as well as improve process control and quality
    • Secondary Responsibility
      • Develop and sustain new vacuum deposition/etch processes
      • Run corner lots to map process space, and ensure production processes are redundant across multiple tools
      • Responsible for providing and implementing cost reduction strategies and process improvements
      • Provide vacuum development to support new products, execute DOE runs, and analyze statistical data
  • Work Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements
    • Minimum of a B.S. degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, material science or a related technical discipline
    • 5 years of clean room work experience in dry etch/CVD/PVD process engineering in a manufacturing setting OR a M.S. degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, material science or a related technical discipline
    • 2 years clean room work experience in dry etch/CVD/PVD process engineering in a manufacturing setting
    • Detailed knowledge of plasma physics, thin-film properties, and metrology equipment required
    • Experience with SPTS AOE, DRIE, PECVD, CVC PVD, Veeco IBD/Ion Mill, Tystar furnace preferred
    • Candidate must have solid problem-solving skills working in a team environment and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to train others on processes and various vacuum processing equipment

Mask Design Engineer

  • General Description
    • IMT is looking for a talented mask design engineer to lead IMT’s mask and reticle layout projects. The candidate(s) will be responsible for layout of a wide variety of devices for the entire production and research & development departments. Works with program managers and lead process engineers to generate reticle layouts, layer biasing, and reticle floor planning. This position provides the candidate enough challenges to improve and contribute his/her layout skills. Candidate should have thorough understanding of L-Edit and some knowledge of AutoCAD. Work will mainly take place in an office setting, but regular visits to IMT’s 150 mm class 100 production and development clean room will be required
  • Detailed Job Duties
    • Complete complex MEMS mask layout of customized devices using L-Edit to meet product delivery schedule, following established design rules
    • Perform design checks at each stage of design process of input files from process engineers or customers, and output files to process development and manufacturing teams
    • Review and interpret customer input documents and complete mask layout considering best practices for MEMS layout and fabrication, and product performance
    • Create design documentation using L-Edit, Word and Excel at each stage of design process to clearly communicate design output to process and assembly teams
    • Conduct design reviews
    • Work closely with Process Development, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams
    • Understand design process and work with team for improvements to the process, cycle time, and standardization
    • Inspect incoming masks and reticles
    • Manage third party mask manufacturers
    • Create project specific and company-wide design rules
    • Manage cleanroom mask/reticle library and storage areas, and online layout database
    • Develop and document streamlined mask submission procedure.
  • Work Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements
    • Master's in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related (Bachelor's with additional years design/L-Edit experience will be considered)
    • Minimum 3 year product design experience
    • Minimum 1 year L-Edit experience, fluent in Excel
    • Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
    • Focused, self disciplined, multi tasking, and work well alone and in cross-functional teams
    • Knowledge of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) or semiconductor design or fabrication desired

Photolithography Process Engineer

  • General Description
    • IMT is looking for a talented photolithography process engineer to sustain current production and lead the development of new processes. This includes ownership of advanced steppers, mask aligner and coater track equipment, photo process control, qualification operations, equipment performance, and reaction plans. Work will take place in IMT’s 150 mm production and development cleanroom in Santa Barbara, CA. No travel required.
  • Detailed Job Duties
    • Process and sustaining engineering support for photolithography modules in Production and Development programs
    • Develop resist processes including creating recipes for coater track and stepper
    • Ownership of all photolithography SPC (control charts) and ppk performance improvement
    • Document procedures and train techs on stepper maintenance (after receiving OEM stepper training)
    • Match processes on multiple coaters and steppers
    • Create OCAPs, take lead on corrective actions/8D efforts
    • Implement cost reduction strategies and process improvements
    • Design, run, and report DOEs
    • Analyze statistical data with JMP
  • Work Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements
    • B.S. plus 5 years of industry experience or M.S. plus 2 years of industry experience or Ph.D. with/without industry experience
    • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering
    • Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience using resists, aligners and metrology equipment required
    • Experience with i-line Nikon Steppers, Suss contact aligners, and SVG and TEL coaters preferred
    • Very strong skills in SPC, 8D, FMEA, OCAPs and DOE
    • Strong documentation skills required
    • Demonstrated skills in problem solving

Production Technician - 3rd Shift Position

  • For 3rd shift (Fri, Sat, and Sun 3 x 12)
    • To begin with 1-3 months of training on 1st shift (M-TH 4 X 10)
    • Will need to be able to work any of the three shifts depending on the needs of the company
  • General Description
    • Gains specialized knowledge of all tools and processes in assigned bay(s)
    • Ensures tools and lots in assigned bay(s) are not idle, and all lots in assigned bay(s) are moving efficiently
    • Monitors real time status of all equipment in assigned bay
    • Utilizes Eyelit and communicates with engineering and maintenance to ensure issues with lots, processes, and tools are being addressed in assigned bay(s)
    • Maintains 5S protocol for assigned bay(s)
  • Detailed Job Duties
    • Production tech has ownership of assigned bay(s)
    • Position requires specialized knowledge of tools and processes run in assigned bay(s)
      • Redline all documentation (EOIs, Eyelit travelers, QAIs and MPIs) related to processes in assigned bay(s) to ensure compliance; and submit redlines to appropriate engineering personnel
      • Work with engineering to create new recipes for their bay(s), as required
      • Responsible for completing training matrix requirements for all tools and approved processes run in assigned bay(s)
    • Run all start ups and quals for tools in assigned bay(s) per assigned schedule
    • Run all production lots and released development lots in assigned bay(s) according to Eyelit or paper traveler instructions
      • Checks tool status in Eyelit before operating any tool
      • Correctly tracks lots through Eyelit or paper travelers in real time
      • Processes materials according to engineering change order (ECO) instructions
      • Responsible for productivity in assigned aisle
      • Lots will be run first in, first out (FIFO) unless otherwise instructed by Eyelit priority
      • Communicate tool availability to engineers for engineering only processes
      • Perform inspections according to QAIs
        • QAI must be displayed on monitor during inspections
        • Fills out Discrepancy Report (DR) form when processes do not match AQI requirements and places lot on DR hold in Eyelit with appropriate comments
      • Ensures 5S cleanliness and organization of bay(s) at shift start and shift end
      • Flexibility between bays is required, depending on work load
      • Multitasking of various job responsibilities within assigned bay(s)
      • Uses vacuum wands where available
    • Administrative responsibilities
      • Works assigned schedule
      • All overtime must be approved in advance by the shift supervisor
      • Coordinates breaks and meals with shift supervisor and backup technician to ensure tools are monitored and aren’t left idle
      • Fills out Time Track daily
      • Answers the phone in assigned bay(s)
      • Arranges all PTO 1 week in advance with supervisor
  • Work Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements
    • AA degree or other technical degree is desired OR High School diploma plus two years of experience in MEMS fabrication
    • Background in semiconductor processing is preferred, including familiarity in photolithography, wet etching, thin film deposition, and dry etch technology
    • Must have excellent written, verbal communication and computer skills
    • Detail oriented and self motivated
    • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and carry up to 15 lbs.
